stand up for trans youth

State legislatures across the country are proposing hundreds of bills aimed at dismantling the rights of transgender people, particularly targeting trans youth. These hateful attacks include attempts to criminalize gender-affirming health care, ban trans kids from playing sports, and threaten the safety and inclusion of youth at school by banning LGBTQ books, student groups, and compelling teachers and administrators to “out” youth to their parents. Many states have signed bills like these into law.

Anti-trans legislators in Minnesota have tried to pass similar bills. Although we have thus far been successful in defeating them, their actions and use of the media to spread cruel rhetoric has promoted violence and discrimination against trans kids and some school boards have moved to discriminate against trans youth.

We must stop these hateful attacks against trans youth in Minnesota.

Every child should know they are loved, safe, and supported as their authentic selves. Now more than ever, we must speak out and show up for the rights and lives of trans youth.
