Unpacking Texas’ Attacks on Trans Youth
Texas just declared that gender-affirming health care for trans kids is “child abuse” and instructed its Department of Family and Protective Services to begin investigating all families with trans children in Texas and prosecuting their parents as child abusers.
Parents could lose custody of their transgender children.
How many families will have to pack up their lives and move to another state? How many without the means to so will have their children removed from loving and affirming homes simply because of who they are? How many teachers will now be forced to report their trans students’ families to the state or risk losing their job and suffering criminal penalties?
We’re going to start unpacking all of this — and the threat of similar policies in Minnesota — and you’re invited to join us.
