End of Year News

December 21, 2023

We’re officially coming up on the end of the year, so be sure to give our last newsletter of 2023 a read for a recap of the accomplishments we’ve made, and a peak at what’s ahead!

End of Year Recap

Though there’s still a lot of work to do, together we accomplished incredible things here in Minnesota in 2023 from changing policies for transgender inmates and passing the Trans Refuge Bill to ending state funding for crisis pregnancy centers and repealing Minnesota’s unconstitutional and harmful abortion restrictions.

Check out what we accomplished together over the past year! Additionally, be sure to give our annual report a read here!

A Huge Week at Court

Over this past week, we were in court for multiple crucial cases:

  • Anderson v. Thrifty White – Today, the MN Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in our case alleging sex discrimination in a pharmacy’s refusal to fill an emergency contraception prescription for our client, Andrea Anderson.
  • Cooper v. USA Powerlifting – Yesterday, the MN Court of Appeals also heard oral arguments in the case of USA Power Lifting’s ban on transgender athletes, and their discrimination against our client, JayCee Cooper, by barring her from competing due to her being a transgender woman.
  • Fighting North Dakota’s Abortion Ban – Oral arguments took place yesterday in our case with The Center for Reproductive Rights and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP for a preliminary injunction on North Dakota’s Abortion Ban.

We will continue to fight for gender equity, trans rights, and reproductive freedom, and we look forward to rulings on these critical cases in the new year!
