Open Letter in Support of Inclusion for Transgender Athletes

We greatly appreciate all of the 2,000+ athletes, coaches, and advocates who signed our open letter — standing up for what’s right and demonstrating our communities’ overwhelming support for trans people.

On October 22, 2025, in a monumental win for fairness and justice, the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled in favor of JayCee Cooper, a trans athlete who was barred from competing by USA Powerlifting solely because of her gender identity. This ruling not only affirms JayCee’s and all trans athletes’ right to participate equally and authentically in sports, it also prohibits discrimination against trans people in any public accommodations, including restaurants, movie theatres, and essentially any business open to the public throughout the state of Minnesota.
