Meet Our New Executive Director!

Co-founders Jill Gaulding and Lisa Stratton, with Board Chair Kathleen Murphy: on behalf of the Gender Justice board and staff, we are thrilled to introduce Megan J. Peterson as our new Executive Director!

Megan joins us with over 14 years of experience in progressive social justice causes. As Deputy Director for the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF), Megan was instrumental in increasing the organization’s impact by expanding and strengthening its network of grassroots abortion funds and significantly increasing its donor and foundation funding. Megan was instrumental in NNAF’s founding leadership in All* Above All, a national campaign to repeal the Hyde Amendment.

Prior to her nine years with NNAF, Megan served as Director of Development and Communications for Pro-Choice Resources in Minneapolis and as a patient advocate at Planned Parenthood’s Highland Park clinic in St. Paul.

Megan’s expertise and strong relationships within the reproductive rights and justice movements add depth to one of Gender Justice’s areas of expertise. Her experience and proven track record in nonprofit management, fundraising, and advocacy are a perfect fit for the next stage of Gender Justice’s growth.

Megan says, “I’m thrilled to join the incredible team of advocates at Gender Justice and look forward to building on their successful litigation, policy, and education programming. My life-long passion for justice for all people, regardless of gender, makes joining this organization feel like coming home.”

Co-founder Lisa Stratton, who has served as executive director for the past two and a half years, will remain a senior leader in the organization alongside co-founder Jill Gaulding. Jill and Lisa have great confidence in Megan’s ability to lead Gender Justice’s next phase of development. With the organization in Megan’s capable hands, Lisa is excited about returning to her passion for public interest lawyering.

Many thanks to our dedicated board and staff for ensuring a successful transition and to organizational development consultant, Karen Key, for her expert guidance throughout the process.

Please join us in welcoming Megan to Gender Justice!

Update: Thank you to all of us who joined us for happy hour at Moscow On The Hill on September 29 to welcome Megan!  It was great to see so many smiling faces. We will keep you posted on upcoming events!
