Send a Letter of Support to Andrea Anderson
Write a note of encouragement
Last week, we got the difficult news that Aitkin County failed to protect our client and other Minnesotans against sex discrimination. A jury found that a Minnesota pharmacy did not discriminate against Andrea Anderson when their pharmacist refused to fill her emergency contraception prescription.
Gender Justice believes the pharmacy’s actions constitute illegal sex discrimination and will appeal the decision to the Minnesota Court of Appeals to ensure all Minnesota patients can safely access the health care they need, especially in Greater Minnesota.
Our client, Andrea Anderson shared:
“Like anywhere, there are challenges to living in a rural area. But I never expected that they would include the personal beliefs of our local pharmacists, or that they would hold – and wield – such enormous decision-making power over my life. The pharmacists I encountered ignored my health needs and my doctor’s instructions.”

As we continue to fight for Andrea’s case, we need your help to show Andrea how supported she is by her fellow Minnesotans.
Can you send a note of encouragement?
Below are a few examples, but please add a personal touch!
Dear Andrea,
Thank you for your courage and hard work standing up for the rights of all Minnesotans to access healthcare. It is unacceptable for providers to put their own personal beliefs ahead of their legal and ethical obligations to their patients.

Dear Andrea,
I am writing to let you know that I stand with you in your fight for reproductive rights. Thank you for protecting our access to health care. You are not alone in this fight!
